Q: How long is the event?
A: The OIC starts on April 23rd at 5 p.m. and runs for 48 hours. The challenge will finish on April 23rd at 5:00 pm. Presentations and judging will happen right after at the final reception.
Q: How much does it cost to participate?
A: The cost of participation for OIC is $20. The cost is used to help offset food and logistics for the event.
Q: Are food and accommodations provided?
A: Food and snacks will be provided at the primary location throughout the two challenge days. A location to work as well as internet access will be provided from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm.
Q: When will I find out about the challenge(s)?
A: The challenges from the participating companies will be announced on the evening o April 23rd at 5:00 p.m. by the company executives at the OIC 2010 kickoff.
Q) Where is the OIC 2010 kickoff, event, and reception taking place?
A: All three events will be held in different rooms of Ottawa City Hall at 110 Laurier Avenue West, Ottawa, Ontario, K1P 1J1
Q) Must I stay at city hall for the 48 hours?
A: You are free to work whereever your team feels most comfortable, whether that be in the provided space, at a local coffeeshop, or at home. However, Company Representatives, OIC Organizers and mentors will be at the main locations at different times to offer guidance and support from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm.
Q) Can I choose my team mate?
A: Team mates will be chosen by the organizing committee. A strong component of this challenge is team building and networking, that is why we would ideally set you up with someone who complements your skill set as well as someone you don’t previously know.
Q) Can I choose my challenge?
A: Challenges will be selected through a lottery system at the kick-off event. All challenges will have a mix of technical and business components.
Q) Do I have to be a technical person or business person to compete in OIC 2010?
A: OIC 2010 is for the well rounded and entrepreneurially inclined problem solver. The challenges will focus on business strategy though some technical knowledge could be an asset. Teams will be selected to complement each others’ skill sets.

Q) Will computers be provided for me?
A: Internet, cables, routers, whiteboards, markers etc. will be provided. Computers however will not be provided. We do have access to a very limited number of computers – so if you cannot provide your own laptop, let us know, and we will try to make alternate arrangements.
