Are you interested in participating or becoming involved in the OIC, but wish to know more specifics about the event ? Here in the FAQ blog you can find answers to the many questions related to OIC details.
Q: How long is the event?
A: The OIC starts on August 21st at 5 p.m. and run for 48 hours. The event will finish on August 23rd after all presentations have been completed.
Q: How much does it cost to participate?
A: The cost of participation for OIC is $40. The cost is used specifically to help offset food and accomodations for the event.
Q: Are food and accommodations provided?
A: Yes, teams will staying in suites in Carleton’s Prescott Residence, and meals will be provided for the duration of the event.
Q:What companies will be presenting problems?
A: The two companies that will be presenting problems are,
ThinkSM – ThinkSM is a social media consulting firm local to the Ottawa area that specializes in using social media technologies to help companies find, connect and interact with their clients online.
Benbria – The market leader in unified notification, Benbria is a Wesley Clover company found by three young entrepreneurs. It enables organizations to communicate with their stakeholders across a wide variety of mediums, including voice, SMS, e-mail, computer desktops and paging.
Q: When will I find out about the challenge(s)?
A: The challenges from the two participating companies will be announced on the evening of 21st of August at 5:00 p.m. by the company executives at the 2009 OIC kickoff.
Q) Where is the 2009 OIC kickoff taking place and where will the 2009 OIC take place?
A: The 2009 OIC kickoff will take place on Carleton University campus at Minto Centre 2014 (MC2014) which is the board room in Minto Centre - the School of Engineering building on Carleton Campus. The board room is located on the ground floor of Minto Centre right opposite Bell Theatre.
The actual competition will take place in Prescott Hall – the Carleton University residence building right opposite to Minto Centre. Details of the location will be provided to all participants during the official kickoff.
